FIREWOOD FOR FAMLIES IN NEED

After successfully accomplished activities on the project "Strengthening of municipal capacities for improving the quality of life of vulnerable social groups" from the "Exchange 3" programme, the management of Palilula continued to monitor and assist vulnerable families. They provided firewood for 50 socially vulnerable households in both urban and rural area of the municipality. Visiting households this week was done by Milos Stojkovic, a member of Palilula Municipal Council and Milan Djurdjevic, president of the Municipal Assembly with their associates.
ELECTRICITY HAS COME AND WATER SOON WILL BE ALSO PROVIDED
Dobrivoje and Slobodanka Zlatanović live in a house made of mud in Mramorski potok village. Their house is in very poor condition. The entrance door cannot be closed and the walls are cracked. One room is very cold because of constant open space and no better is in the other room where there is a sort of heating and where the couple lives. They do not have any water and electricity, because of the large debt some 6 to 7 years ago. Social assistance that is received by the family Zlatanović is in the amount of RSD 2,481 and was cancelled without any known reason earlier this year. While they were healthy, the couple went for hiring activities. Dobrivoje worked hardest physical labor in order to earn money for the family. Slobodanka is now 64 years old and seriously ill. She suffers from various diseases and almost immobile. `Suffering from kidney disease, diabetes, receiving insulin every day`, says Dobrivoje. She very often falls into coma. Dobrivoje is 65 years old and the whole household is on him now. He cooks, makes bread, takes car of his wife. Zlatanović family has three daughters, but each of them lives very difficult conditions, so from them, says Zlatanovic, help cannot be expected. At the initiative of Palilula, according to Milos Stojkovic member Municipal Council in cooperation with Slobodan Todorovic, Merosina Municipality president, with the support of ED Jugoistok LTD Nis, ED Prokuplje, -Pogon Merosina, this household is taken into account. Zlatanovic family, according to councilor Stojkovic words, water supply will be provided and transport of Slobodanka Zlatanovic to Clinical Centre so that adequate medical treatment will be provided.
FIREWOOD FOR STANISA IN LALINAC VILLAGE
Staniša Djordjevic (born 1959) lives alone in Lalinac village. He worked 24 years in `Electronics industry` Nis. In 2006, after the death of his father, who was a worthy craftsman, `Mechanical Industry` Niš worker, took care of a mother who was bedridden. They lived on her pension. After her mother's death changed everything. Stanisa was left without income and living in very ruined household. His health condition is many times got worse. Staniša does not posses land to get food from relatives and good people. Health situation and alienation of Staniša cuts off life in this family?
During the last year, Palilula Municipality provided 4908 socially vulnerable residents to receive free assistance Palilula experts, doctors, sociologists, psychologists, lawyers and caretakers. Donations of food and firewood are just one more step in the range of activities that are directed towards people who need help and are often not registered at the `Centre for Social Work`.
